Lisa has been chosen as the recipient of the prestigious and highly respected MPP Nathaniel Glover Fellows Scholarship. Through the generosity of Mrs. Camilla C. and Mr. Charles J.O. Wodehouse, Jr.   The scholarship is meant to educate, train and prepare leaders enabling them to lead in North Florida and Southeast Georgia.  The scholarship gives her the opportunity to meet and learn from extraordinary civic, business, and policy leaders.

Lisa was also accepted into the Executive Masters in Public Policy Cohort which will allow her to be educated, trained, and prepared to advocate for public policy issues.

Lisa James Presides Over Georgia Municipal Association District 12 Meeting

 

In a momentous gathering for the cities in Georgia's District 12, Lisa James took center stage as she presided over the annual Georgia Municipal Association (GMA) District 12 meeting. As a dedicated leader in St Marys, James brings her wealth of knowledge, experience, and vision to the role, providing critical guidance and insights for local officials and representatives in attendance.

Elected by her peers within GMA District 12, Lisa James’ position as presiding officer reflects the trust and confidence placed in her by the association’s members. The voting process, held annually, allows member cities to elect a leader who will represent their interests, advocate for their needs, and coordinate efforts for regional development. James, who has been deeply involved in community efforts for years, was praised for her collaborative leadership style, attention to detail, and ability to synthesize resources that directly benefit District 12's municipalities.

During the meeting, key strategies for economic growth, infrastructure funding, key legislative initiatives at both the state and federal levels, as well as an update on the Georgia Reads program.  The meeting also allowed for time for member cities to share information and focused on how the district’s member cities could work together for mutual prosperity. She also emphasized the importance of maintaining close relationships with state and federal agencies to ensure access to necessary funding and resources.

Attendees were impressed with how Lisa James balanced her in-depth knowledge of local governance with a forward-thinking approach, encouraging collaboration and shared success. One official commented, “Lisa’s leadership and insight were exactly what we needed in this meeting. Her ability to bring together all the necessary information and make it accessible to everyone was remarkable.”

The Georgia Municipal Association is a vital organization supporting Georgia’s cities through legislative advocacy, leadership training, and the provision of vital resources. District 12, in particular, includes several key cities that play an important role in Georgia’s overall growth and development. As presiding officer, James will continue working closely with these cities throughout her term to address common challenges and leverage opportunities for collective success.

Her fellow district members eagerly anticipate what promises to be an exciting and productive year under Lisa James' leadership.

Lisa Appointed Chair of Policy Committee for Georgia Municipal Association, Aiming to Drive Key Initiatives"

Lisa, having recently been appointed as Community Development Policy Council Chair attended the joint Georgia Municipal Association (GMA), Association of County Commissioners of Georgia meeting.  The meeting was held in Braselton, GA and covered such topic as Infrastructure Funding and recently passed legislative bills.  Lisa led a group discussion on strategies to identify challenges and eliminate funding gaps around infrastructure.  As spokesperson for her group, she was able to present solutions to the entire group.
